// 02 · what's at stake

March 15, 2027 is the deadline for a calendar-year 1120-S or 1065, and the late-filing penalty is charged per owner for every month the return is late, whether or not the business made a dollar. Reasonable compensation set by guesswork is the most common adjustment on an S corp exam. A K-1 that arrives after the owner's 1040 has already been filed means amending both. The adjustments that come with a trade are just as routine: tips that never ran through payroll, and the Form 8846 credit on the employer share of FICA that nobody claimed alongside them; inventory expensed at purchase instead of carried into cost of goods sold, against an Amazon, Shopify, Etsy or eBay 1099-K that reports gross; booth rent collected and never reported; an initial franchise fee written off in one year when a Section 197 intangible is amortised over fifteen. Each of those is cheaper to set up correctly in January than to unpick in April.

How we fix it.

01 · Day 1

Name the shape

Tell us what actually files: an 1120-S, a 1065, an 1120, a disregarded single-member LLC, a Schedule C, or a Schedule F if you farm. A restaurant, an online store, a salon, an agency, a repair shop, a franchise and a citrus grove all land on one of those six. That one answer sets the package, and you see the price before you call, not after.

02 · Week 1

Portal, not an office

Last year's business return, the trial balance or bank feed, payroll reports, the December inventory count and any marketplace 1099-Ks, and the owner's personal documents go up through a secure, encrypted client portal. No office visit required. We work out of Lakeland and cover Polk County, Tampa Bay and Central Florida the same way we cover the rest of the state, and owners outside Florida the same way again.

03 · March 15 or April 15

Filed as one file

The business return, the K-1s it issues and the owner household's 1040 are prepared together, so a K-1 never lands on a personal return that has already gone out. Extensions are filed as needed and are included.

04 · After filing

The next year, on purpose

On Complete and above: quarterly estimates calculated each quarter, a written tax plan before year end, and an entity and compensation review once a year.

01

S corp and partnership — 1120-S and 1065, due a month before your 1040.

Both are pass-through returns that issue a K-1 to every owner, and both are due March 15, 2027 for a calendar year. On an S corp, the shareholder-employee needs a documented reasonable salary before distributions, not a number picked in December. We prepare the entity return, the K-1s it issues and the owner's personal return in the same pass, at $2,850 on Essential and $5,350 on Complete. The first owner K-1 is inside that price and each one past it is a published $75.

02

C corp and LLC — the form follows the election, not the name on the door.

An LLC is a state entity with no federal return of its own. Depending on what it elected and how many members it has, it files a 1065, an 1120-S, an 1120, or nothing separate at all. A C corporation files Form 1120, due April 15, 2027, and is a published $625 on top of the package, because the package base is priced on an S corp or partnership.

03

Schedule C and Schedule F — a business package, not the household one.

A sole proprietor, a 1099 contractor, a freelancer, a rideshare or delivery driver, a creator, an influencer, a photographer, a consultant, an insurance agent or a single-member LLC with no election files Schedule C inside the personal return. A farm, a grove or a cattle operation files Schedule F in the same place. There is no separate business return and no K-1, but it is still business work: $950 on Essential, $2,450 on Complete, and the full 1040 is in the price. If that Schedule C is a small side business rather than how you make your living, the cheaper answer is the $650 individual package plus the published $375 Schedule C add-on, and we will tell you so instead of selling you up.

Pricing, on the page.

Published prices · Quoted in writing before any work starts
One entity · Essential
$2,850
The 1120-S, 1065 or 1120, the first owner K-1, and the owner household's personal return with one state. $1,450 at engagement, $1,400 before filing.
One entity · Complete
$5,350
Adds quarterly estimates, a written plan before year end, and the annual entity and compensation review the salary decision runs on. Concierge is a $6,100 annual fee plus $675 a month, $14,200 across the year.
Schedule C · Essential
$950
No entity yet: your Schedule C and your full personal return on one annual fee. Complete is $2,450. Concierge is $3,200 a year plus $675 a month, $11,300 across the year.
Published add-ons
Add-on
Each additional entity return $2,275, its owner K-1 included. A C corp return instead of an S corp or partnership, $625. Each state beyond the first $100. Each incoming K-1 $125. Each owner K-1 past the first $75. A second owner household return $550.

How it works: one annual fee, half paid at engagement and half before your return is filed. Everything past the package baseline is a published add-on at a fixed price, so nobody counts forms. Books, payroll and sales tax are the only monthly items, because they are the only monthly work. See the full grid and every add-on or start your intake.

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, ask it on the intake — we read every one before the first call.

Q01

I have an S corp. What is my number?

$2,850 on Essential. That covers the 1120-S, the first owner K-1, and the owner household's 1040 with one state, on one annual fee paid half at engagement and half before filing. Each shareholder K-1 past the first is a published $75, so a four-shareholder S corp adds $75 for each of the other three. Complete, which adds quarterly estimates and a written plan, is $5,350. Concierge is a $6,100 annual fee plus $675 a month, because books and payroll are delivered every month.

Q02

We are a two-member LLC filing a 1065. Same price?

Same price. A multi-member LLC filing a partnership return is one entity: $2,850 on Essential, $5,350 on Complete, with the first owner household's personal return included. Each owner K-1 past the first is a published $75, and a second owner's household return is $550.

Q03

We are a C corporation.

Form 1120, due April 15, 2027 for a calendar-year corporation, extended to October 15. The package base is priced on an S corp or partnership, so a C corp return is a published $625 added to it. The owner's personal return is still in the package, and we will tell you plainly if the double-tax math says the election is wrong for you.

Q04

I am a single-member LLC, a freelancer or a gig driver. Do I need a business package?

Yes, the Schedule C one. With no S corp election, a single-member LLC is disregarded for federal tax: there is no separate return, and the business reports on Schedule C inside your 1040, the same place a freelancer, a rideshare or delivery driver, a home-based direct-sales business or a side hustle reports. That is $950 on Essential or $2,450 on Complete, both including the full personal return. The deductions we work through with you are the home office where it is genuinely your principal place of administrative work, business mileage, equipment and the Section 179 election, self-employed health insurance, and a SEP or solo 401(k) set up and funded on the deadline that actually applies to it, which is not the same date for both. If the Schedule C is a side business and not your living, the $650 individual package plus the published $375 add-on is the right shape instead.

Q05

I own three entities. How does that price?

One entity at the package price, then $2,275 for each additional entity return, including that entity's owner K-1. A holding company, an operating company and the LLC that owns the building is $2,850 on Essential plus $2,275 for each of the other two. Nine or more entities, a consolidated return or any foreign entity is quoted at intake rather than sold from the grid.

Q06

Are you CPAs?

No. Ring Tax is an Enrolled Agent practice: federally enrolled, tax only, with unlimited rights to represent you before the IRS. If you need audited, reviewed or compiled financial statements, that is attest work and we refer it out and say so. For preparing the return, planning the year and representing you in an exam, an EA covers it. Representation is priced on its own: a flat fee, quoted and paid upfront, never folded into a package and never hourly, and civil tax matters only. The packages on this page are flat annual fees as well, so there is no hourly rate anywhere in the engagement and you see your number before you call.
