◆  For CPA, EA and bookkeeping firms

Overflow tax preparation for firms that are out of hours.

Ring Tax prepares, reviews and represents on returns for CPA firms, EA firms, bookkeeping firms and financial planners. We're a US-based Enrolled Agent firm. Your clients stay yours, the work happens in your systems, and you review and sign before anything is filed.

Who it's for

  • CPA and EA firms with more returns than staff hours from February through April and again before the October deadline.
  • Bookkeeping and fractional CFO firms that want to offer tax returns without hiring a preparer.
  • Financial planners and RIAs whose clients need returns prepared by someone who will work from the plan.
  • Solo preparers who are overloaded or cutting back and need a reliable second set of hands.

How an engagement runs.

01

Scope call

We start with a call about volumes, return types, software, deadlines and rates.

02

Written agreement

We sign an agreement covering scope, turnaround, confidentiality, data security and a mutual non-solicit of your clients.

03

Your systems

You give us access, and we work inside your tax software and document system, under your procedures.

04

Review notes

Every return comes back with written review notes on open items and judgment calls.

05

You sign

Your reviewer signs as the preparer of record. We sign only when that's the arrangement.

Why a US-based Enrolled Agent

Your client data stays in the United States. Sending tax return information to a preparer outside the US requires each client's written consent; the exception in Treas. Reg. §301.7216-2(d) covers preparers inside the United States. Working with us doesn't need that consent.

Enrolled Agents have unlimited practice rights before the IRS, so the person who prepared a return can also answer the notice that follows it.

Cody Ring, EA, MBA, has prepared multi-state returns and worked IRS controversy cases at a national accounting firm, and has led a prep team of 11, including offshore staff. He knows where outsourced prep usually breaks down, and he builds the review around it.

Rates and capacity

Hourly or per return, agreed in writing before the season starts. Send your expected volumes and return mix, and we will reply with a written quote within a week.

We reserve capacity by week for January through April, and we do not cap the hours we will commit to the 2027 season. Per-return and hourly contract rates are published.

Common questions.

If yours isn't here, ask it on the intake — we read every one before the first call.

Q01

Will you contact my clients?

Only when you ask us to, such as a notice response under a Form 2848 you've approved. Otherwise every question goes through you.

Q02

Which tax software do you work in?

CCH Axcess, GoSystem, Drake and SurePrep today. If yours isn't listed, ask.

Q03

Do you take on work after the April deadline?

Yes. Extensions, amended returns, notice responses and cleanup run all year.

Q04

Do you also serve taxpayers directly?

Yes, Ring Tax has its own clients in Lakeland, Florida. Your clients are covered by the non-solicitation terms in our agreement.
